Shuckin’ Shack Franchising Joins The Shellfish Growers Climate Coalition
Shuckin’ Shack Franchising LLC is proud to announce that we have recently joined the Shellfish Growers Climate Coalition. Sustainability is a top priority in all of our Shuckin’ Shack locations and we are very excited to be a part of this coalition with many of our current oyster farmers and seafood suppliers.
In 2018, a group of seven U.S. shellfish growers formed a partnership with The Nature Conservancy to create the Shellfish Growers Climate Coalition (SGCC). Members are dedicated to bringing about climate action by highlighting how climate change has impacted their lives and livelihoods.
The coalition of more than 200 shellfish businesses from 23 U.S. states and Canada is working to advocate for sound climate policy and secure a low-carbon future to benefit the shellfish we love and the waters that sustain them.
Shuckin’ Shack Oyster Bar has always worked to make our Earth a better place. Our efforts include serving Wild Caught American Shrimp, reducing single use plastic products wherever possible, recycling oyster shells to create natural reefs back in our waterways, skipping the use of straws, and using sustainable fisheries. Our Sustainability efforts have not gone unnoticed as our locations are Ocean Friendly Certified and, as of 2019, we were placed on the James Beard Smart Catch Committed list.
We are very proud of all of our locations and their continued efforts. Our partnership with the Shellfish Growers Climate Coalition is a match made in oyster heaven. We will continue to do our part to keep our waterways and oceans as clean and sustainable as we can for years to come.
